Summer is in full swing (get it?) on the Cape and one of the best indicators of summer fun is the kickoff of the Cape Cod Baseball League ball games. The Chatham Angler’s home field is just 1/2 mile from the Captain’s House Inn and guests love to stroll down to catch a few innings and maybe even grab a ballpark frank from the concession stand. All games are free, but fans are welcome to make a donation if they wish.
Many of the league players move on to the major leagues so a year or two down the road, you might be able to say you saw an all-star player up close and personal! Some Cape Cod Baseball alumni include New York Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury (Falmouth 2004), Boston Red Sox’s Chris Sale (Yarmouth-Dennis 2009), Chicago Cub’s Ian Happ (Harwich 2013-2014) and Kris Bryant (Chatham 2011), and Colorado Rockies Chad Bettis (Falmouth 2008).
