With all the snow the Northeast has seen over the last week, the holidays on Cape Cod certainly felt festive. Several days before Christmas, a foot of snow fell in Chatham and several days later, the winds howled and more snow fell (though only a dusting this time as opposed to the blizzard in every surrounding state). Thankfully, the next few days promise sunshine despite somewhat frigid temperatures. With our New Years Eve celebration just days away, we have visitors coming from all over and are grateful that the weather won’t get in the way of travel plans.
This year, the Captains House Inn is hosting our traditional annual three day gastronomical New Years extravaganza. The events kick off with a decadent high tea for all in-house guests with typical English tea fare like sausage rolls, Branston pickle sandwiches, curry chicken salad, scones, and plenty of tea cakes and cookies. On New Years Eve, guests will enjoy an ice cream sundae bar and homemade Peppermint hot chocolate followed by a lavish evening buffet. Chef Kevin has created a menu this year focused around healthy food options that still taste sinful. Guests pop in and out of the dining room throughout the evening to sample all the food and sip a glass of wine or champagne, then head out to enjoy Chatham’s first night festivities culminating with a midnight firework display. The next morning, the first meal of the New Year kicks off with an extensive gourmet brunch complete with Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas.
Certainly no one leaves hungry after their stay at the Captains House Inn for the New Year holiday. With three night package prices topping off at under $1,000 including tax, what a wonderful way to kick off the year ahead. While we are fully booked this year, we do keep a wait list in the event of cancellations and it’s never too early to consider your plans for 2012!
